Buy puppies
If you want a great mioritic shepherd dog from Romania you must consider the following:
- you can buy one from amateurs, very cheap, but well bellow the standard of the breed and far from what a mioritic should be, most of the dogs are not even pure mioritic shepherd (50-150 euros);
- you can buy one from large kennels with tens of litters a year; medium price, medium quality dogs, often with dogs outside the breed wanted standard (200-400 euros);
- you can buy one from small kennels, oriented towards quality not quantity ( 2-3 litters a year ), more expensive than the previous option, but better dogs, bred very carefully to enrich the breed itself. I like to think that mine is one of those.
In 17 years I’ve successfully stabilized the next characteristics in my line of mioritics ( De Runc ):
- very expressive color, white and dark grey;
- rich and rough hair;
- balanced temper, sociable and fearless;
- elegant posture and movement.
Having a small number of puppies every year I advise you to make reservations. A firm reservation means an advance of a 100 euros ( the price of a puppy varies with age, gender and size ). The price of a puppy ( under 4 month old) is 500 euros.

Hi, I am interested in buying a puppy. We live in Austin, TX, USA. Have not decided boy or girl, is there a distinctive difference in temperament between males and females of the breed? Do they tolerate heat as well as cold? What kind of diet best serves?
Thank you for your time,
Heather Kier

I will be getting a 4 yr old female into our rescue organization this week. Someone who bought one in Romania is moving and cannot take her. Can you tell me if you know how many are in the United States? A big order, but you may know. I will be getting her spayed and current on whatever she else she needs. Do you have any idea on what her rehoming fee should be?

Laura – I have no idea how many mioritics are in Us, if I’d venture a guess I would say a couple of hundreds; what do you mean by rehoming fee?
Anna – The first litter available will be at the end of July, a puppy costs 500 euros and the shipping cost is, depending on the wight of the puppy, 600-700 euros more.

Petru,
I am interested to buy a puppy. I live in Ireland, my husband is Romanian, so it is possible that we could come across to collect. Could you advise if they are happy to be left on their own during the day? We have a very large garden which the dog could have the free run of. We also have two cats and I’m wondering if this would be a problem?
Annette

The mioritic shepherd dogs don’t have any problems with being left alone ( bred for guarding sheep in huge areas they are programmed to be loyal but not suffer when the master is away). As for the cats, mioritics are like any other dog, if you get the puppy used to the cats then it’s ok, if not he will chase after them.

I’m looking to buy a Mioritic puppy probably next year. Meanwhile I want to get ready for it (neither my husband nor I have ever had any dogs). We have a fairly large garden which is fenced with natural shrubs, rather than purpose-built fence. I was wondering whether I will need to replace it and secure the area, in case the dog goes exploring. Any suggestions? Many thanks. Gabriela

Salut Petru,
How do we proceed from here for me to buy one of the puppies from you. I’m interested in a male puppy.
Regards,
Andrei
Petru Mustea says:
July 17th, 2011 at 3:13 pm
Dear Gabriela
i’m glad that you have a large area, because mioritic need that. There is a probleme, because if you want a male he will urine and that will destroy your shrubs under 1 m(when the dog have 1 year). In case of female you don’t have this probleme. Concerning exploring that will be rare, is not tempted to leave the territory, he is guarding dog.
Keep touch.

Buna ziua,
multumesc de interesul acordat canisei noastre.
Un pui costa 500 euro, iar transportul difera foarte mult in functie de virsta, implicit marimea puiului.
De aceea detaliile de transport le discutam ulterior.

Hi Petru,
My family and I are now ready to buy a Mioritic puppy. Do you have any that are ready to be sold? We live in Ontario Canada and would need to know the cost of shipping the puppy to Toront International airport.
Please let me know what the next step is.

Cecilie, although I really don’t have the proper info, never having do deal with this problem I suppose that being such a rich coat breed is not recommended for people with allergies;
Andrei i I’ve e-mailed you the info.

Petru Mustea says:
December 29th, 2011 at 6:47 pm
Buna Adrian,
multumesc de interesul acordat.
Am trimis mai multi catei in SUA. Este relativ simplu doar ca trebuie trimis cind are cel mult 2 luni pentru ca altfel creste foarte mult pretul biletului.
Petru Mustea says:
December 30th, 2011 at 4:57 pm
Rachel Kenney, the price, as is properly explained in the article at the top of the page is 500 euros, besides that there are expenses with the international papers (international pedigree, health certificate) and the shipping;
we’ll have new litters in 2012 but later than 2012 ( the puppies must be 2 month old to have their first vaccination done and only after that they can be shipped).
thank you for your interest, keep in touch if you have more questions, and I will let you know when the first litter of 2012 is born.

I believe I have a female from your litter of June 27, 2011 that was sold to Janet McCarthy in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. Janet was unable to keep her. We are very happy with her but I would love to have information on her pedigree. The only information I have is on her passport:
Name: CERNA DE RUNC and her chip number is 941000013376372. She was shipped from Bucharest to Washington DC on October 24, 2011. Any information you might have would be appreciated.
I am wondering if it is better to have more than one dog of this breed at a time. Or do they thrive as the only dog in the home. She is very alert and protective and has bonded very strongly to me and my family. What a wonderful creature. Thank you, Megan Lustine

Petru, Inca (Amy) started her first period today. We are keeping Bubba away from her. I understand from your info that they should be separate for at least 2 weeks, and then it’s safe to let them play again, correct?
Inca is a real DOG! Sometimes we wonder if she has wolf in her! She gets into muddy waters and she digs all the time! She is still trying to dominate me but I don’t let her get away with it, and at that point, when she understands she will do what I want her to do, she gives up and she acts cute!!
We love her and she knows it!
Can u send me an email so we can talk some more?
Thank you and keep up the good job. U can use us ad references if you want.
